Love Sponge is the second single off the Spook – Transparent album. The first single was Newmaqualand, which is a newer version of Namakwaland.

Namakwaland is available on the Gary Herselman and Die Lemme – Rigtingbefok album.

Francois van Coke's voice still delivers the song on this version, while Nkosi X lays some of his rapid-fire and etcetera style on us... Newmaqualand is something I put together after hearing Warrick Sony's Namakwaland mix4, sent to me during the process of recording the song, but only heard some time after Rigtingbefok was released.

It would seem apparent that Warrick's usual high standard of work (on Namakwaland) speaks for itself upon hearing the song. None of this really has anything to do with Love Sponge, but you are obviously able to make your own decisions about that too...

Perhaps the most significant aspect of Love Sponge, from where I am sitting, is that it is yet another of the songs which never got to see anything close to a final mix before a virus gobbled up all the multi-track versions of the songs being worked on at that time. Ah! That unusual beat-thing going on there is a result of some serious synch problems with the copy of Cakewalk being used then. God loves Delay man.
